Becoming a Bestseller: Landing Your Book on a List
If you’re writing a book, start planning your publicity opportunities at least 90 days in advance.
Ideally you want your interviews and features to come out during your book launch week – that’s your best opportunity to land on a bestseller list.
If you start to pitch PR opportunities a few weeks before your launch, you won’t have the same impact as you would if you give yourself at least 90 days to plan. It can take several weeks or even months between pitching an opportunity to be on a podcast and when the episode actually goes live. That’s why I tell my clients that 90 days is the bare minimum! Ideally, I recommend 120-180 days.
