3 steps to get ready for publicity

One of the #1 questions I get as a publicist is: am I ready for publicity?
Maybe you’ve seen others in Entrepreneur or Inc. or Forbes or on TV or speaking on a stage and thought, “I can’t wait for that to be me one day!”
But what if I told you that day isn’t as far away as you think??
Here’s what it takes to be ready for publicity:
- You know what you do.
- You know who you do it for.
- You have at least one product or service.
That’s it!
You might not be starting with Forbes or Inc., but there are PLENTY of opportunities out there for guest blogs, features, podcast interviews, and even virtual TV appearances that you could be doing right now!
In fact, I had one client that waited to come to me until she had made $1 million. She really wanted to write for Forbes…and I had to explain to her that we were going to have to work backwards and get her a few guest blogs in other places first, because Forbes requires you submit at least three links for previous places you’ve written.
And that’s not the only reason to get started when you’re earlier on in your business. That early PR helps establish credibility and increase your reach. After all – it doesn’t matter how good you are at what you do if no one knows you do it!
So, how are you going to start putting yourself out there so you can reach more people who NEED to hear from you – who NEED what you have to offer? Stop hiding and start impacting more lives!
